Pain Neuroscience &
Self-Management Education

At Scrambler Therapeutics, we understand that pain is never just physical. Persistent pain can impact every part of your life — your relationships, your energy, your mood, and your ability to do the things that matter most to you.

That’s why we offer individualised pain neuroscience and self-management education as part of a holistic, evidence-based approach to chronic pain care.

Why Education Matters

Pain neuroscience education (PNE) helps people make sense of their pain. Based on decades of research and guided by the internationally recognised Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI) guidelines, this approach aims to shift how pain is understood, reducing fear and building confidence in the body’s capacity to change. PNE is not about telling people their pain is "all in their head" — rather, it's about helping people understand how pain is processed, and how this knowledge can be used to reduce suffering.

Pain self-management education builds on this foundation. It gives people tools and strategies to live well with pain, drawing on skills from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), neuroscience, and behaviour change science.

What You Will Learn

Each session is tailored to your unique goals, needs and lived experience. During your sessions, you may explore:

  • Pacing and activity planning to avoid boom-bust cycles

  • Thought management strategies

  • Weekly goal-setting using SMART principles

  • Motivational interviewing to support meaningful change

  • Applied relaxation and stress management techniques

  • Sleep hygiene and energy conservation

  • Problem-solving approaches for day-to-day challenges

  • Medication education and rationalisation support
